Digital implant planning uses detailed scans and 3D imaging to help your dentist study the teeth, bone and surrounding structures before implant treatment.
Where appropriate, the proposed final tooth can be considered first — a restorative-first approach that helps guide the position and design of the implant treatment around the planned restoration.
A surgical guide may also be created for selected cases to support the planned implant position during treatment.

Dedicated implant-planning software — such as SICAT or Simplant, where used — lets your dentist review the digital records and plan the proposed implant position.
3D-Printed Surgical Guides
Selected guides are designed digitally and produced with Primeprint and Primeprint PPU, followed by validated washing, curing and post-processing. Where an in-house ceramic implant restoration is part of the plan, CEREC® design software, the Primemill and the SpeedFire furnace support its creation.

What is digital implant planning?
It is a process that uses digital scans, 3D imaging and planning software to help your dentist assess and plan selected implant treatments before the procedure begins.
What is guided implant surgery?
Guided implant surgery may involve a custom surgical guide created from the digital treatment plan. The guide supports the planned implant position, but the procedure is still carried out and controlled by the clinician.
In other words: guided does not mean automated — the clinician still places and controls the implant, with the guide supporting the planned position.
Why is a CBCT scan used?
A CBCT scan can provide 3D information about the jawbone and nearby structures, helping your dentist assess the area being considered for implant treatment.
What is a surgical guide?
A surgical guide is a custom appliance that may be used during selected implant procedures to help transfer the digital plan to the mouth.

Considering the proposed final restoration can help your dentist plan the implant position around the intended function and appearance of the replacement tooth.
Does guided implant treatment guarantee accuracy?
No. Digital planning and surgical guides are tools that support treatment, but they do not remove clinical variables or guarantee a particular result.
