QIP Accreditation: Quality Dental Care You Can Trust

At West Perth Dental Centre, we pride ourselves on providing excellent patient care. We are dedicated to continuous improvement and are always looking for ways to enhance the quality of our services. We are accredited by Quality Innovation Performance Limited (QIP), a not-for-profit agency in Australia that offers certification, accreditation, and verification services.

Quality Innovation Performance Limited (QIP) is a company that provides quality improvement and performance management services. It helps organisations improve their quality of care and service delivery by using quality improvement tools and techniques. Our QIP Accreditation means we meet the industry’s high standards of quality and safety. You can trust us to provide safe and quality dental care.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

The QIP Accreditation standards are a set of guidelines that recognise private dental practices that have demonstrated an ability to integrate the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards into their practice culture and patient safety routine. The program is assessed against the six NSQHS Standards which apply to dentistry:

  • Governance for Safety and Quality in Health Service Organisations
  • Partnering with Consumers
  • Preventing and Controlling Healthcare Associated Infections
  • Medication Safety
  • Patient Identification and Procedure Matching
  • Clinical Handover

An organisation becomes accredited by meeting specific standards. First, it registers with an approved accreditation body, such as QIP. Then, a self-assessment must be completed using tools and resources provided by the accreditation body. This aims to measure how well the organisation adheres to set standards.

Once the self-assessment is completed, the organisation must undergo an assessment by QIP. The assessment will be performed by an experienced, qualified professional from the industry. This assessment includes a review of the organisation’s policies and procedures. Then, accreditation from QIP will be granted. Organisations are required to complete a new self-assessment every three years to maintain QIP accreditation.

Receiving dental care from a QIP-accredited clinic means that you can be confident in the quality of care you will receive. The accreditation standards are designed to improve patient safety and see to it that clinics are effective and efficient.

QIP-accredited clinics must undergo regular audits to monitor if they still meet high standards. Knowing that your clinic is constantly being monitored for quality gives you peace of mind. If you are looking for quality dental care, look for a QIP-accredited clinic.

One of the most important things to consider when choosing a dentist is whether they are accredited and certified. Both accreditation and certification set standards for dental care providers, but there are some key differences between them.

A certification is a written statement from a third party or an external body attesting that a dentist meets certain specified requirements. This assurance is based on an assessment, audit, or external review. In contrast, accreditation is a formal recognition by an authoritative body, such as the government, that a dentist has the competency to meet specified standards. Certification is usually voluntary, while accreditation is often mandatory.

When choosing a dentist, it is important that they are accredited or certified, so you know you’re in good hands.
