Our Accreditation

The QIP Accreditation standards are a set of guidelines that recognise private dental practices that have demonstrated an ability to integrate the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards into their practice culture and patient safety routine. The program is assessed against the six NSQHS Standards which apply to dentistry:

• Governance for Safety and Quality in Health Service Organisations
• Partnering with Consumers
• Preventing and Controlling Healthcare Associated Infections
• Medication Safety
• Patient Identification and Procedure Matching
• Clinical Handover

An organisation becomes accredited by meeting specific standards. First, it registers with an approved accreditation body, such as QIP. Then, a self-assessment must be completed using tools and resources provided by the accreditation body. This aims to measure how well the organisation adheres to set standards.

Once the self-assessment is completed, the organisation must undergo an assessment by QIP. The assessment will be performed by an experienced, qualified professional from the industry. This assessment includes a review of the organisation’s policies and procedures. Then, accreditation from QIP will be granted. Organisations are required to complete a new self-assessment every three years to maintain QIP accreditation.
